About Me

When I was four years old, my aunt gave me a Shetland pony named Tiny for my birthday! I've had horses and ponies ever since. They are just about my favorite animal-along with cats, dogs, cows, sheep, pigs, lions, kangaroos…well, I guess I just like animals!

I also like to garden, do all sorts of arts and crafts, and, most of all, write
poetry. I started writing poems when I was in 3rd grade. When I grew
up, I was lucky enough to have my poems made into books.
I was born on July 10, 1928 and have lived all my life in one little town--Easton, Connecticut. I graduated from college in 1950 and took a job on a weekly newspaper. In 1954 I was married. In our family, we're all artists of one kind or another. My husband, Harold, is a writer; our son, Jeff, is a photographer; our daughter, Deb, is a musician. Our granddaughter, Megan, and our step-granddaughters, Shoshi and Shira, are all in school. They are all musicians and also love to act and paint.

When I was little, I lived in a very old house with a barn out back. Now, I live in a very new house with lots of glass- and a barn out back.
I loved flowers!
When I was little, I wanted to grow up to be a farmer. I went to the University
of Connecticut to study agriculture. But I ended up studying English- and
became a writer!
